As of June /08, Kiva is residing in Europe. She is currently
working on new musical projects. These include
composing for solo (which involves looping in live performance),
film soundtracks, and online collaborations with artists around the
world. She has signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement with SeekOut
Records in the U.S.
Recent
recording projects include:
-with Tanya Tagaq
(Inuit throat singer)
-singing with a whale from Raratonga for Lisa Walker's new experimental
CD
-two Kiva songs included on documentary from Rankin Inlet
(for
'Kivalliq Inuit Doll Festival and Story Telling Traditions')
-soundtrack for a Toronto produced film by bhYael titled Trading the
Future
-harmonic singing
on new release from Vancouver's Ormidales
on a track titled Waiting for
Catherine. Now receiving airplay in the UK.
-A song she co-wrote with Live
Ullmann called The Quality
of Light has recently been released in Norway.
She is taking part in the European Overtone Choir week
in July in the Czech Republic. There are
about 60 members from eight countries. The focus is on non-esoteric
based overtone singing. She will perform solo (as a guest of the choir)
at the Nove Hrady Festival (mid-July).
Kiva has added performances for children.
She recently appeared at Cunningham school (Vancouver) with a 10 year
old female percussionist (May Cooper) for an audience of 520 children
from kindergarten to grade 7. The educational/entertainment concept is
taking the ancient artform of throat singing and combining it with
modern technology (looping of vocals, etc.) and various ethnic grooves.

Collaboration with Nii
Tettey Tetteh
The inspiration for the
new direction came from a project with Nii Tettey Tetteh, a master
percussionist from Ghana. Two of these tracks are on the CD 'Pulse',
called The Incident and Kaida Kei.
