Main stage artist at KIEKU throat singing festival, Helsinki, /01

Kiva was among only 4 foreign acts invited as main stage artists to the KIEKU throat singing festival held in Helsinki in June /01. Other artists were Tuva Kyzy from Tuva, Hoosoo from Mongolia, and Okna Tsahan Zam from Kalmykia, Russia. Her concert took place at the Sibelius Academy, a famous venue with outstanding acoustics. She also presented a lecture and a workshop on overtone singing.

Her host and organizer of the festival, Sauli Heikilla, was a guest throat singer at Kiva's concert, along with two other members of his vocal ensemble. In a tribute song she wrote in honor of the all female Tuva Kyzy quartet, another special guest was Sauli's Jack Russell terrier. 'Dog Watson' provided the most memorable moment by singing a precise and brilliantly executed solo.
